Indy Yelich, sibling to the internationally acclaimed pop diva Lorde, has made her entrance into the music word with the release of her debut track titled “Threads.”
Given that “Threads” is Indy Yelich’s very first officially released piece of music, it goes without saying that this is a very significant accomplishment for such a young musician.
As Indy Yelich sings about “awkward chats” and a thousand goodbyes, the wistful single gives the impression that it was written to document the breakdown of a romantic relationship.
It is not known whether or not Indy Yelich has signed with a label as of yet, but she has the potential to play in the major leagues. Perhaps her older sister has some connections that can help her get a better bargain.
Indy Yelich has already had two books published; the first one, titled Sticky Notes, was launched in 2018, and the second one, titled Dudette, was released in 2022.
At the age of 17, Indy Yelich who is now 23, uprooted her life and came to Los Angeles in the hopes of launching an acting career. Later, she settled in New York and turned her attention to writing.
It is believed that Indy Yelich recently visited her fellow New Zealand artist Harper Finn in New York City, who has recently relocated to the Big Apple.
Indy’s first book of poetry, titled “Sticky Notes,” was published in 2018, and it chronicled her experiences with “love, travel, and self-discovery amid a shifting physical and emotional geography.” This book helped Indy get widespread attention in 2018.
In 2018, Yelich discussed her work with the Herald, as well as how she views herself in relation to her more well-known older sister.
“I imagine that I’m the only person who’s ever compared themselves to my sister.,” she said at the time.
“My family has always been very encouraging and supportive of me, and they have faith in my abilities. To achieve success, I was the one who put pressure on myself. My own mind is the most dangerous foe I face. This book was incredibly significant in bringing to my attention the fact that I am my own unique person with my own course of action.”
Yelich has not disclosed any other musical objectives at this time; however, given the polished production on the recorded version of “Threads,” it would be surprising if she did not release an album at some point in the near future.
As for Lorde, she is scheduled to wrap up her North American tour with a voyage through Mexico as well as a slew of festival appearances. Some of these festivals include Life Is Beautiful, Primavera Sound Los Angeles, Rifflandia, and All Things Go.
Quotable Lyrics from Indy Yelich ‘Threads’ Track:
Wish I could sit in bed with you, now we stare across the room
goodbye a thousand times, but it’s eating me alive
there’s nothing I can do about it
you and I
awkward conversations in the corner
you used to hold me
– – – –
where’d you go? drinking with your friends again?
didn’t try to find me, you know I got to catch a flight, it’s fine
I’ll never see your face again
wonder if it’s hard for you,
are you thinkin’ ’bout me too
